ROB ZOMBIE Taps Ex-AMEN/WEDNESDAY 13 Bassist PIGGY D.
May 25, 2006ROB ZOMBIE has tapped ex-AMEN/WEDNESDAY 13 bassist Matt Montgomery (a.k.a. Piggy D.) as the replacement for the recently departed Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (also ex-CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER). As BLABBERMOUTH.NET exclusively reported on May 11, Nicholson left Zombie earlier in the month in order to join OZZY OSBOURNE's recording/touring band.
Montgomery's debut performance with ROB ZOMBIE came Wednesday night (May 24) during an appearance on CBS' "Late Night Show with David Letterman".
Born on November 16, 1975 in Houston Texas, Montgomery started his own band DEMENTIA 13 at age 15 in which he played guitar and sang. While in Texas, Piggy played guitar with hardcore dirt punkers SPUNK, and fronted THE SHE DEMONS, a drag-queen horror punk band during 1994-99. After relocating to Boston in 1999, Piggy D. started the first incarnation of his self-titled band and had a brief stint playing guitar in Buffalo's own WOODY.
In 2002, Piggy relocated to Los Angeles to join the self proclaimed "most destructive band on the planet," AMEN. After two years of constant touring and hard times, Piggy D. met Wednesday 13 of MUDERDOLLS fame and joined his band in support of the first WEDNESDAY 13 solo record. More recently PIGGY D. has been working on the demos for his first solo album, "The Evacuation Plan of Piggy D." A band has been assembled and the CD is currently being recorded in Boston. A late summer release is expected. Piggy D. also runs his own horror-themed merchandise company, Batatude, and his own designer clothing company, Black Victory. In 2005 he started a growing online community called The Sunday Fires which allows young artists of all types a place to share their work.
Piggy D. is currently residing in Texas after living for a brief time in New Orleans.
